III Notes(便条)
Overview
We often need to write short notes for all kinds of purposes. An English note is similar to a short English letter, but the form of the note is simpler and the language used is often not so formal.

You can see there is no difference except that a comma (,) is usually used after the name in the English note, whereas after the name in Chinese, we use a colon (:).
Sample 2
Feb. 7
Herb,
Could we see each other to discuss your syllabus for”Contemporary American Fiction” on Friday morning at 10 0’clock?

Note the difference when a date is added to the notes. The difference between Chinese and English notes becomes quite obvious when we need to write a date for our notes. In the English note, the date is written first and is put in the top right corner, whereas in the Chinese note, the date is written last and is put under the name in the right corner at the bottom. Sometimes, we may want to put down also the day of the week; in English it is written before the date, for example:Tues. June 23.
The following are samples of notes for different purposes.
