Up till now, you have must travelled to many cities. Different cities may leave you different impressions. Before we proceed to a detailed discussion of the text, think over the following questions:
1)What crops up in your mind when you hear the term ‘Hiroshima’?
2)To what an extent, do you agree with the title of the text?
3)Why do you think the word “liveliest” in the title is in quotation mark?
The text is a piece of narration. The author tells us what he has experienced during his trip to Hiroshima and what he has seen and felt there.
Apart from the main clue of the author’s thoughts and feelings, he also spices this piece with some typical description of the characteristics of the Japanese nation.
