Pragmatic presupposition can be defined as a relation that holds between a speakers and the appropriateness of a sentence in a context or an appropriate use of the sentence in the context. E.g. When did he begin to quit smoking?
In the sentence, the utterance presupposes “he had been a smoker” and “he quit smoking”.

The interrogative words are called presupposition triggers. Some verbs such as regret, stop, continue, and manage, are presupposition triggers in certain contexts.
