4) 目的状语从句：由 so that, in order that, lest, for fear that, in case等引导.

They got up much earlier so that they might arrive there before the sunset.
他们起得较早，目的是赶日落前到那。
The foreign teacher spoke very slowly and in simple sentences so that every student could understand him.
He came to China all the way from Singapore in case I might need his help.
他一路从新加坡赶来，为的是我或许需要他的帮助。
He left an hour earlier for fear that / lest he should miss his train.

5) 结果状语从句：由so that (结果), so…that (如此…以至)引导

They worked fast and well, so that they fulfilled the production plan ahead of schedule.
他们工作得既快又好，以至提前完成了生产计划。
The old woman was so poor that she could not afford to buy a pair of shoes for her son.
这个老妇人很穷，以至无法给自己的儿子买双鞋。
He wants to read this novel, so much so that he forgets eating and sleeping.

6) 方式（或比较）状语从句：由as (正如), than (比)，as…as (和…一样), not so (as)…as (和…不一样), as if / as though (好像，宛如), the more… the more (越…越)引导。

Things came out not as we had expected.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
入乡随俗。
Light travels faster than any flying machine (travels fast).
You look as pale as a piece of paper.
你脸色白得像一张纸。
The actor did as well as he could.
Lesson Ten is not so (as) difficult as Lesson One.
She ordered me about as if she were my boss.
You may do as you please.
The more we can do for you, the happier we will be.
The more you read the book, the more meaningful it will be.
越读这本书，你会发现它越有意思。

7) 条件状语从句：由if (假如), unless (除非，若不), suppose (假设), supposing (假若，设若), provided, as long as (只要), otherwise引导。

If you persist, you are sure to succeed.
只要你坚持，你一定会成功。
Supposing that this method does not work, what shall we do next?
假如这个方法不行，下一步我们该怎么办？
Suppose the plane is late? (=What will happen if the plane is late?)
There is no room left unless you would like to live in room No. 7.
You can sit anywhere provided you leave no mess.
Grass can grow rapidly as long as there is plenty of rain.
He stayed up late preparing for this examination; otherwise he would have failed.

8) 地点状语从句：由where, wherever引导

Where there is oppression, there is resistance.
哪儿有压迫，哪儿就有反抗。
Every comrade is ready to give help where help is needed.
每一位同志都准备好了在需要的地方给予帮助。
Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you.
无论你去哪，无论你做什么，我都会在这等你。
