Luo: Carol,
do you have anything special for this weekend?
Carol: No. What's your plan?
Li: What about going to a Karaoke bar?
Carol: OK. It's a good idea. Luo and
Li: We want to enjoy your favorite
songs.
Carol: I prefer pop music. I don't
like anything classical.
Luo: Me too. We have many good pop
music singers in China, such as Xie Tingfeng,
Wang Fei, CoCo Liwen, Alex Wang Lihong and
so forth.
Li: Alex is my favorite. He is young
and handsome. He is so charming, especially
his eyes...
Carol: I heard about Alex. He is from
Taiwan. But he was brought up and educated
in the United States.
Luo: Carol, can you say something about
the Pop music in the United States?
Carol: Yes, I'd like to. We've had
Blues and Jazz since the 1920s and Rock'n'roll
since the 60s. They can all trace back to
the Black music. Then there are R & B,
hip-hop, and rap music. There are a lot of
well-known Pop music groups in history including
the Beach Boys, the Backstreet Boys, Destiny's
Child, 'NSync etc., and Pop singers like Britney
Spears, Michael Jackson, etc. Country music
has begun to be almost like Pop music too.
Garth Brooks and Shania Twain are very popular
with young people. So are Tim McGraw and Faith
Hill, and now they're married to each other. |
