Tom, got a minute?
Tom: Sure, come on in. What's on your
mind?
Li: I figure I am going to spend one
year studying in the United States. What should
I do now?
Tom: How much English can you understand?
Li: Not a lot right now. But I signed
up for a few English courses this semester.
Tom: Knowing the language is a necessity
for you to study abroad. But only that is
not enough.
Li: What else do you think I must pay
attention to?
Tom: Besides this, you'd better start
familiarizing yourself with its culture.
Li: How?
Tom: You can watch some English TV
programs, read some English newspapers, magazines,
and novels, search for some useful information
from the Web, listen to some English radio
programs, talk with some English native speakers
to learn more about the U.S.
