Learning Words Through Reading

Reading is an excellent way to improve your command of English words. When a new word appears in a sentence or a story, the context is often enough for you to guess the meaning. Coming across the word again and again in your reading helps you learn it and use it correctly in your speaking and writing. However, you should choose something that you find quite easy to read, such as stories to read for pleasure. Difficult stories or texts that you struggle to understand will not help you to develop your stock of words in a natural pleasant way. Remember: to learn new words through reading, you have to read A LOT!
