1. Cloning is beneficial in many ways. It can help those
people with no fertility to have their own babies. For the
disabled people and those with fatal diseases, cloning technique
will bring them a chance to recover. Endangered species
can also benefit from the research of cloning because it
may help them to increase their population. The agricultural
industry may greatly improve both in quantity and quality
because of cloning technology. To conclude, I think the
research and practice of cloning should be encouraged rather
than banned.
2. Cloning must be banned for it is dangerous in some aspects.
Firstly it is against nature. We must draw a line for getting
involved in natural events. If we are not careful, cloning
may result in genetic disasters. Suppose a population of
organisms had the same genetic information, then a fatal
disease would wipe out the entire population. Secondly,
some people may abuse the cloning technique and produce,
say, a hundred Hitlers. Also, cloning may lead to ethical
and emotional problems. If a child grows up knowing her
mother is her sister and her father is her brother-in-law,
she would suffer unbearable emotional pressures trying to
establish her identity. To conclude, I think the research
and practice of cloning should be banned.
