Remember the couple we saw on the TV the
other day who couldn't have a baby so they cloned the
husband and now she's pregnant. |

Cloning!? |

That way the baby would really be our
child, our own blood. |

Not really, dear, that way
the baby would really be one of us! I'm not very comfortable
with that idea, to be honest. I mean when you have a
baby the normal way the genes are mixed and it's sort
of pot luck which bits of each parent will get passed
on. |

But darling, you're so perfect. We could
make another one of you. |
| B: |
But think about that. I'm not perfect
- I have to wear glasses for example. And maybe you
should talk to my mum about what a horror I was as a
little boy! I certainly wouldn't like to have to bring
myself up! No, I really think we should adopt. |
| A: |
But it wouldn't be our child … |
| B: |
Yes it would. Being the biological
parents of a child is such a tiny bit of parenting.
We would love that child, protect it, provide for it,
educate it … as far as I'm concerned that's the most
important bit of parenting. |
| A: |
Well I agree with you there. |
| B: |
And think of all the poor children in
the world without parents. We don't need to make another
child, there are plenty already. |
| A: |
That's a good point. |
| B: |
I tell you what. Tomorrow I'll phone a
few adoption agencies and see if I can make an appointment
for us to go talk to someone. |
