1. 通常表示部分关系，如：
　　　a friend of my mother's　　 (one of my mother's friends)
　　　some shirts of Tom's 　　　(some of Tom's shirts)
　　　two relatives of mine 　　　(two of my relatives)

　　双重所有格可用a, any, some及数词等修饰of前面的名词，但不能用the，如不能说the friend of mine。
　　注意双重所有格和of–所有格的不同含义，如：
　　　a picture of Mr. Smith
　　　　（史密斯先生的照片，指他本人的照片。）
　　　a picture of Mr. Smith's
　　　　（史密斯先生的照片之一，指他本人的，或他收藏但不一定是他本人的，照片之一。）

　　2. 双重所有格还常用this, that, those, no, any等修饰of前的名词，以表示说话人赞美、厌恶等感情色彩，如：
　　　I love this painting of yours.
　　　Go and wash those dirty shoes of yours.
　　　This is no fault of Tom's.
　　　Any idea of yours will be considered.
